One subscription, up to three Macs
A work machine, a personal one, and a spare slot for the day you replace one. Activation is per Mac, and you can free a slot yourself.
An account is a way back in
You can create a Voicecape account with your email address, or sign in with Google. An account holds your subscription: a new subscription is attached to the account you check out with, and a licence key only remains for existing Polar or PortOne contracts. Dictation and the trial still start without one.
Your settings and dictionary stay on the Mac that made them; Backup is how you move them yourself. Recording transcripts and summaries are stored encrypted in your vault, tied to the account.
Free a Mac yourself
If your subscription is on all three Macs and you are retiring one, open Settings → Licence on the Mac you are letting go and press Release this Mac. The slot is free straight away, and signing in on the Mac you want brings it back — existing Polar or PortOne contracts use their licence key instead. Email is still the answer for a Mac you no longer have, because a machine that is gone cannot release itself.
A month off the network does not lock you out
The subscription is re-checked quietly in the background and holds for 90 days from the last successful check. A laptop that spends a month away from the network does not lock itself.

Does an account sync my settings?
No. Settings and dictionary move as a Backup file. What the account holds is your subscription and your vault — Recording transcripts and summaries.
